ABOUT SPIRITS CALLING SERIES I have created a new series called Spirits Calling. Spirits Calling, the series, was created during the waning of the full moon cycle in May of 2007. I felt the urge to go to the Taos Library to look at art magazines. As I thumbed through the pages of one particular magazine I came upon, an abstract image held my interest. It was a collage, and the image was abstract. It evoked a feeling of shamanism. A figure in motion; it had power and color. It reminded me of a native image. I had been using 5" x 7" pieces of glass for my oil pallets. After I was through with one, I would lay it aside, and one day I decided to use a red filler in the form of a spray-sealer to complete an image that was of interest to me. I began with the piece, I'd found in the library. From this point keeping with the idea of shamanism and mysticism, I began to incorporate a Kachina-like form to the paintings. At this point, I have created 10 pieces that are 20" x 24". I plan to make a limited edition of prints from these unique pieces. Each piece that I create gives me enormous pleasure and a sense of power as well, as a connectedness to the greater creative forces. I have given these pieces a number but I also have names that come to me. I will reveal these names as they are sold, because I feel that each person viewing them will draw from their own consciousness and sub-conscious minds to mean something personal to them. With this information I would create a book on this series. Our world is changing everyday; these images are my response to what I feel and see at this point in time.
